Daniel is an experienced, award-winning writer and editor. He worked for Montgomery Media (running their parenting magazines and special sections for a decade) and DelVal Media (creating their monthly home and garden magazines as well as their wellness publications). He also wrote and illustrated three children’s books, where he donated all the proceeds to area charities, and is creator of the comic strip, “MILO K., hermit crab,” which has been in the region for nearly 30 years, most notably in GRID environmental magazine for more than 10 years. In 2013, Daniel transitioned into the senior care industry, becoming Director of Life Enrichment, then Community Engagement, for Rydal Park & Waters in Jenkintown. Here he built strong, long-term relationships with hundreds of residents and their families, focusing on improving the quality of life for older adults through listening, kindness, appreciation and helping them to take control of their lives. This year he transitioned again, this time devoting his energy to help nonprofits succeed in a financially, philosophically, politically difficult time. Emphasizing authenticity, passion, communication, empathy, advocacy, and strong community relationships for a diverse (and growing) spate of organizations, he brings together businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, foundations, religious organizations, and individuals for mission-driven work. After 12 years on the Abington School Board and three years on the Eastern Center for Arts & Technology Joint Operating Board, today Daniel serves on the board of the Abington Community Taskforce (ACT), Abington Educational Foundation (AEF), Abington Library System, and Citizens and Police Together (CAPT). He is on the advisory boards of the Eastern Center for Arts & Technology and the National Association of Long-Term Care Volunteers. In addition, he works with the Montgomery County Taskforce on Suicide Prevention and the Willow Grove chapter of the NAACP, created the Senior Advisory Committee for Congresswoman Madeleine Dean, was on the Human Services & Public Health Advisory Committee for Moving Montco Forward, and was recently appointed by the governor to the Pennsylvania Long-Term Care Council, where he is chair of the Patients’ Bill of Rights workgroup. |
