My career fighting for justice:

Throughout my career, I have been driven by a singular purpose: to stand with and speak for those whose voices have too often been silenced or ignored in our justice system. As a public defender in both state and federal courts, I understood the life-altering consequences of every case. My mission was always to ensure that every individual who faced the system received competent, vigorous, and principled representation—because a conviction should never be treated lightly, and justice should never be transactional.

I saw my role not just as legal counsel, but as a bridge—standing between those who had been misinterpreted or misunderstood and the systems tasked with delivering justice. I worked to hold those systems accountable, not only in courtrooms but in the broader ways policy, power, and perception affect outcomes.

When given the opportunity to lead, I made it my goal to empower others. I focused on education and access, building a community-centered office where information was freely shared, and advocacy became a collaborative process. We built something different—an office that truly belonged to the people it served, opening doors to representation, resources, and real opportunity.

Now, as a civil rights advocate, I continue that fight—not just in courtrooms, but in the broader arena of public life. It is a personal calling to ensure that the rights promised in our Constitution extend equally to every community. I do this work because I believe justice must be accessible, equitable, and accountable to us all.
